HOWDY, CREATORS đŸ€

VidSummit kicks off in Texas today. Here’s what to expect from the conference’s 10th annual edition:

VidSummit is taking things up a notch for its tenth annual creator conference. The three-day event will include a series of firsts, including a brand-new location at the Irving Convention Center (which sits just outside Dallas) and a job fair headlined by seven creators.

VidSummit’s move from California to Texas reflects its evolution since 2014, when consultant Derral Eves first launched the conference as a “hidden underground event” for creators and industry pros. For the past five years, VidSummit has sold out all 1,500 spots at its old venue; this year’s Irving location will allow 3,000 attendees to snag in-person tickets at $995 a pop.

Despite that growth, VidSummit’s core demographic remains an exclusive group—one Eves describes as “the top 1% of the people that are pushing the needle.”

“Our formula is just, ‘Hey, you’re getting conversations you wouldn’t get anywhere else’
I think that’s what VidSummit’s about, is giving people that true opportunity, where it’s not just about getting views and monetizing the views, but about the whole creator economy and the creator ecosystem.”

Derral Eves, VidSummit Founder

From today until October 5, top creator speakers like MrBeast (who became a partial owner of VidSummit in 2019), Michelle Khare, Zach King, Airrack, HopeScope, Preston, and Jenny Hoyos will deliver dozens of keynote speeches, presentations, and panels covering various aspects of creation.

Attendees can also look forward to VidSummit’s debut job fair.

The conference anticipates booths from YT Jobs—YouTube’s jobs board for creators and creator-related positions—and seven “bigger creators” who are looking to hire editors and other behind-the-camera team members. For more info, check out the VidSummit site here.

When it comes to Shorts stardom (and fighting off sharks), these siblings are a triple threat

With a homemade beach and plenty of play time, the triplets behind TrigĂȘmeos Do PĂ© Rachado are living the dream—even if they do have to fight off papier-mĂąchĂ© sharks every now and then. Over the last few months, Jade, Yasmin, and Henrique have scored hundreds of millions of YouTube views just by having a blast in their beach-style playground.

The catch: that homemade ocean is frequently overrun by larger-than-life Spongebob characters, dangerous sea creatures, and invading helicopters. Those imaginative obstacles (and the Brazilian triplets’ clear enthusiasm for their backyard adventures) have earned TrigĂȘmeos Do PĂ© Rachado a loyal fanbase. Since 2019, the Shorts channel has collected over 2.7 million subscribers—plus a lifetime view count of nearly 3 billion.

A good chunk of those views flooded in during the last few days of September.

The Brazilian YouTube hub hit a major high in September. Data from Gospel Stats.

  • Over the course of our last seven-day count, the family-friendly TrigĂȘmeos channel added a whopping 414 weekly million views.

  • That total more than doubled the YouTube hub’s viewership week-over-week.

  • The result: TrigĂȘmeos Do PĂ© Rachado soared to #8 in our Global Top 50 chart.

MrBeast’s Feastables brand is hitting the court as an NBA jersey patch sponsor

Feastables is making basketball history. The snack brand—which was launched by MrBeast in 2022—has officially become the first creator-owned company to score real estate on an NBA jersey.

“This partnership is a first of its kind, and I am excited to see how creator-brands and the NBA continue to work together into the future.”

Reed Duchscher, Night CEO and Feastables board member

As the official jersey patch sponsor of the Charlotte Hornets, Feastables will play a visible role in the NBA’s 2023-2024 season. Every player on the North Carolina-based team will sport a revamped Feastables logo. The company says fans can expect to see its branding featured in the Hornets’ home arena, the Spectrum Center. It will also appear on media banners and in various “co-marketing opportunities.”

How much is Feastables paying to sponsor a team from its founder’s home state?

Financial details of the Hornets’ new sponsorship aren’t being disclosed, but figures from other NBA partnerships point to a hefty price tag. Back in 2021, the Lakers accepted a five-year, $100 million deal from South Korean food company Bibigo. The Knicks are reportedly seeking their own big payday—a whopping $30 million a year—from their next sponsor.

How small is the world’s smallest Nerf gun?

As it turns out, the answer is pretty dang small.

In fact, Mark Rober’s latest technological innovation—an itty bitty Nerf gun composed of DNA—is considerably smaller than a single human hair. That invention may seem underwhelming in comparison to creations like the world’s largest jello pool (another feat of Rober’s engineering skills), but the results are just as impressive.

As Dr. Pallav Kosuri explains in Rober’s video, the tiny pellet gun’s ability to victimize ants (RIP) isn’t its only feature—it also has the potential to revolutionize disease treatment at a molecular level.
