Call Her Daddy is becoming a powerful tastemaker on Spotify

Even über-famous celebrities can benefit from a guest appearance on Call Her Daddy. According to Spotify data reported by Variety, Alex Cooper’s hit podcast has had a major effect on the streaming stats of some of its best-known guest stars.

Musicians John Legend, Madison Beer, Anitta, and John Mayer all saw significant upticks in streaming traffic in the 48 hours after their episodes went live. Legend reportedly saw a 200% spike in Spotify streams, while Beer and Anitta earned 155% and 150% boosts respectively. Mayer’s stats rose most dramatically: the nemesis of all Swifties snagged a 350% increase in streams following his December 2022 appearance on Call Her Daddy.

Those traffic boosts are a major boon for Spotify, too. The audio platform snapped up Call Her Daddy for a reported $60 million exclusivity deal back in 2021—a smart call given Cooper’s spectacular influence on listeners.

What makes Call Her Daddy such a trendsetter on Spotify?

Cooper says her podcast goes beyond typical interviews by “getting to know the person behind the fame and music”:

“I don’t settle for the usual questions like their favorite song on the album or what song is the most fun to perform. I dive deep into their life and uncover the experiences that shaped their music and identity. As a result, fans not only fall in love with the artist but also discover new music they may have overlooked otherwise. It’s incredible to witness fans connecting with and rekindling their love for the artist and their older songs in a whole new light.”

HEADLINES IN BRIEF 📰

DATA • GLOBAL TOP 100 📈

More than 729 million viewers checked out this Minecraft-inspired channel in June ‘23

Baby Monster School is having a moment. After just seven months on YouTube, the pixel-perfect channel has scored more than 2 billion views and become known for its animated Minecraft videos. But Baby Monster School’s success doesn’t only lie in classroom-themed clips and storylines.

The Minecraft hub knows how to keep up with Joneses.

Baby Monster School says it specializes in “cartoons about cute, funny, sad and emotional monster schools,” but its top videos feature the same characters that have made channels like DaFuq!?Boom! the most-viewed in the world. “Skibidi toilet” heads, city-trampling MrBeasts, and Thomas the Tank Engine dominate Baby Monster School’s five most-watched videos—all of which have scored more than 43 million views.

The channel’s knack for nailing short-form trends has helped it climb the global charts over the last few months. June was no exception:

  • Baby Monster School collected 729.6 million views during the month of June.

  • That monthly total nearly doubled the channel’s lifetime YouTube traffic.

  • And overall? The Minecraft hub’s June stats skyrocketed it to #82 in our Global Top 100 chart.
