It’s Friday and MrBeast’s next viral challenge could be a presidential run. In a recent tweet, MrBeast joked that he’d 100% “jump in the race”—if he was old enough to be elected.

Only 12 more years to go, Jimmy.

MEET THE BOMANIZER

Boman Martinez-Reid was made for TV. Now, he has the original series to prove it.

The creator: It’s been four years since TikTok fell in love with The Bomanizer’s wicked sense of humor and reality TV parodies. Now—after collecting 2.1 million followers and several hefty brand dealsBoman Martinez-Reid is making his own go at show biz.

The show: That TikTok-to-television journey will play out on the first season of Made for TV with Boman Martinez-Reid, an original series coming to the Canadian channel Crave on July 12. Each episode of the satire-driven show will follow the comedian as he replicates the harried path of content creators trying to find their niche on TV.

  • There’s no telling whether Martinez-Reid will settle on competitive drag, news, or some other genre before the season’s end—but he plans to test out as many options as possible along the way.

The big question: The main conceit of Made for TV poses a compelling question: how can creators determine which aspects of their content—if any—will translate on TV? The answer will, ironically, determine whether Martinez-Reid’s own show is a success.

  • Because as the creator points out, “sometimes the bits on social media don’t work when you just try to copy them and put them on TV”:

“My content can exist on TikTok because it’s a constant conversation…on TV, it has to be a little more standalone. So we’re making a show that has to exist on its own, and can’t really be a part of a larger conversation, like what happens on social media.”

  • Luckily for Martinez-Reid, Crave owner Bell Media already has multiple internet-to-TV hits under its belt, including cult favorite Letterkenny. Here’s hoping Made for TV is the company’s next showstopper.

Who knew ragebait and Italian food made such a killer combination?

The channel: Forget breadsticks and caesar salad—the stars of Lionfield take their favorite Italian dishes with a side of ragebait.

Since 2020, childhood friends Matteo Salvatori and Emiliano Santoro have climbed the charts on YouTube by posting horrified reactions to non-traditional Italian cooking.

  • Some of that content is a hard watch for ardent food lovers (Salvatori and Santoro included). The self-proclaimed “pasta protectors” frequently wield cardboard crosses to ward off demons like frozen fettuccine Alfredo and chocolate pizza—but their biggest nemesis of all is broken spaghetti.

  • Reactionary Shorts centered around the breakage of uncooked pasta have generated more than 840 million views for the Lionfield channel, which currently claims 10.5 billion lifetime views.

Lionfield whipped up nearly 510 million views in June. Data from Gospel Stats.

The stats: Salvatori and Santoro’s disgust-fueled strategy brought their channel to new heights during the first full week of July.

  • Over the course of our last seven-day count, Lionfield collected a grand total of 217 million views.

  • That whopping sum added up to a week-over-week bump of 37%.

  • The result: Salvatori and Santoro claimed a spot at #18 in the U.S. Top 50.

Neuralink is ready to implant its brain chip in another human subject

The plan: Elon Musk’s Neuralink has chosen a second human host to carry its controversial brain chip, the company announced on Wednesday.

  • The surgery will happen sooner rather than later. During a livestream on X, Musk—who co-founded the neurotechnology company —revealed that a volunteer is set to receive the company’s experimental chip “in the next week or so.” The product itself is described as a “generalized brain interface” designed to “restore autonomy to those with unmet medical needs.”

  • Check out a VOD of Neuralink’s full update here.
