KAI KARDASHIAN
Kai Cenat is keeping up with the Kardashians in the first teaser for Mafiathon 2
The trailer: Kai Cenat has tapped into some serious star power to promote his upcoming Twitch marathon. The surging streamer recently invited Kim Kardashian to co-star in a trailer for his second Mafiathon, which is slated to begin on November 1.
In that video, Kardashian channels Dr. Melfi from The Sopranos by portraying Cenat’s therapist. The two go on to discuss everything from Cenat’s role in a 2023 New York City riot to his philanthropy in Nigeria and streams with superstars like John Cena.
The stakes: The trailer also sneaks in a few jabs at Cenat’s lost Twitch record. Toward the end of his last month-long Mafiathon (which took place in February 2024), Cenat became Twitch’s all-time most-subscribed creator. Now, however, that record has been eclipsed by the VTuber Ironmouse, who recently attracted 321,000 concurrent subs.
Mafiathon 2 is Cenat’s chance to reclaim his record. The stream is expected to run for the entire month of November, during which time the creator’s fans (aka his “mafia”) will watch as he eats, sleeps, and shoots the breeze with his many famous friends. Teaming up with the most famous Kardashian is obviously a smart way to kick off that marathon. Aside from the cultural cachet, Kim reaches an impressive audience of 360 million Instagram followers.

CREATOR COLLAB
Could Dude Perfect’s Dallas HQ be the new YouTube Space?
The context: Three years ago, creators said goodbye to YouTube Spaces, a now-defunct initiative through which YouTube provided brick-and-mortar production room, equipment rental, networking events, and educational workshops to video makers around the world.
Creator coworking spaces have been far and few between since the closure of Spaces. Membership and educational programs are coming to market soon to fill the void offering a variety of experiences. Whalar‘s Lighthouse, for example, is opening up stylish campuses with classes, communities, and access to equipment at a cost of $5,750 per year.
The facility: Another collaborative production space for creators could soon be inside the walls of Dude Perfect’s $3 million, 36,000-square-foot HQ. The longtime YouTube trickshotters have finally announced concrete plans for their new Dallas headquarters, which they first started talking up in 2022. The facility will serve as “a new hub for next-generation media” with “a world-class production studio tooled for capturing both pre-recorded and live-broadcast video, with customizable stages to support formats including interview series, variety shows, and the unique sports and competition content that Dude Perfect is known for” (per a press release). Production resources will be available to creators, brands, and other media/production companies.
“Social media content is now professionalized, premium, and dominant in the overall media landscape. This new space will help us continue leading that trend.”
The outlook: A Dude Perfect spokesperson told The Dallas Morning News that there’s no current timeline for the headquarters’ completion. When or if it does open, however, it’s likely to be a popular collaboration space. More creators have begun setting up shop in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, and industry tentpoles are making their way to the region as well. VidSummit moved to Dallas in 2023 and agencies like Night have roots in the area.

Analog horror is having a moment on YouTube
The spotlight: Spooky season might be a wrap, but YouTube still has some tricks up its sleeve. In honor of one of its scariest genres, the platform has tapped Spencer Lackey—aka the creator behind analog series a/s/l—to host a 10-minute spotlight video in the style of analog horror.
YouTube says it chose to celebrate analog because the genre has generated over 500 million views so far in 2024. Lackey’s video is a chilling nod to the creators and fans behind that movement. Throughout the clip, he reviews other YouTubers’ shows while being plagued by mysterious forces.
